Make networking part of your marketing routine.

Many business people don’t bother with asking for leads and connections. It might be that they find asking uncomfortable or just assume their friends, customers and clients will pass along good words about them. They hope to get new work, of course, but they don’t do anything about it.

Networking is about making the best of the word-of-mouth relationships that you have with everyone around you to mutual benefit, so don’t let your own shyness or fear get in the way of building your business. Networking will get you more clients. And the more leads and connections you ask for, the more you’ll get – just because your contact, client or customer knows that you want some. It’s a small effort for a great reward.
So how do you get over your fear of asking for help?  What’s the worst that can happen is that they say, “No”. That’s not too terrible, is it?
Think of it as a three-way win.  The majority of people like to help other people especially if there is no negative cost to them and it should be a three-way win. You win, the person referring you wins and the end party wins everyone a winner – all happy!
