Make networking a priority
Why do so many feel uncomfortable when networking? Treat networking like a game and remember you, too, have something to offer. The definition of networking is “connecting to build two-way relationships for the long term.”
Networking is nothing more than getting to know people, a tradition that most people apply every day without knowing it. View Thrive networking as making contacts, creating relationships, finding out about essentials, even as making friends, we’re human and need each other. This is as true in business as it is in other areas of life. You may need to ask for ideas or referrals, but in return reciprocate because at some point, you may need help for yourself or someone else, so give as well as take.
It’s that simple. You lob the ball over the net, and it comes back to you. Remember that business networking is not selling yourself or self-promotion, it is about building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships.
