Networking know how: What’s your networking strategy?
There are plenty of people who turn up to networking events believing that their very presence will unlock doors and help them build important connections. At Thrive, we passionately believe that face-to-face connections are vital and that forging personal relationships at networking events is the key to building a strong business network. But simply arriving and shaking hands is not enough to make networking work most effectively for you – you need that all-important strategy.
So how do you go about working out what your personal networking strategy is? Don’t panic, it’s not as difficult as it might sound. We’ve recently been demonstrating that to our members by helping them do an audit of their business relationship, helping them identify and spot any gaps in their network. After all, it’s through that network that a large percentage of your business growth will happen.
So take a look at the strategic aims of your business and ask yourself these important questions:
Which types of people or businesses to you need to make contact with?
Are you taking any business relationships for granted?
Do you need to break into new areas and where do the people in those areas do their networking?
Are you missing any networking events that you should be attending?
How are you growing your contact base?
Of course, thanks to social media there are plenty of ways to make connections with people that don’t involve leaving your office. But while following up online is a good idea, there’s nothing as effective as building that trust through face-to-face networking. We’ve found that our networkers forge strong links and connect in a meaningful way. The result? Our members are happy to recommend each other, help make wider connections, do business together and share professional advice.
So come along to a Thrive meeting to refresh your network. Whether you’re looking for advice to get your business flying, looking to showcase your skills, or you just want to meet like-minded people and make inspiring connections, at Thrive, we can help you access new knowledge and inspiration. We can put you in touch with experts and like-minded people along with quality and exciting speakers to get inspired and pick up tips for fresher thinking and faster growth.
Thrive and develop your connections for growth.
It’s what we say and what we mean.
