LinkedIn Pulse an under-appreciated gem!

Why publish on LinkedIn Pulse?

Most of us don’t have time to tweet, post or publish from every available platform with any level of frequency or quality. LinkedIn reaches more than 364 million professionals worldwide, with the focus being on the professional life, this is what differentiates it from Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms. B2B marketers rate LinkedIn the top social media for delivering B2B content and most effective for generating leads. Read more

Connections count

When I went along to my first Thrive meeting I had no idea that, just a few weeks later, I’d be handling the public relations for a music festival.

It all happened so organically, in the way that many Thrive connections do, during the second conversation I had with one of my fellow group members. Read more

Networking Success

When networking the aim is to achieve results that positively influence your business, yes, the primary reason you’re networking is to get referrals, but you also gain access to professionals in almost every type of business and to do this you need to have set some overall goals for your networking activities, which will undoubtedly open new doors and different pathways for you. It not how big it is that matters!

One of the biggest myths in business is that you must have a large network if you want to succeed.  The reality is that the size of your network is not what’s important.  It’s the influence of the people within your network that counts.
So stop wasting your time swapping business cards at networking events.  Many of the people attending these events are there to sell to you, not to buy from you. They walk into a room, hand out business cards and boom – they score? I don’t think so! Have you ever bought from them?

But let’s be realistic, how do you go about networking without driving yourself crazy?  The fact is you don’t have to run yourself into the ground shaking hands and attending social events. The art of networking is much more subtle than that, choose carefully who you network with and look at their circles of influence. Think of networking as a way of life and a two-way thing, rather than something you don’t like and don’t want to do. Networking is about being able to work together in such a way as to build trusting relationships and lasting friendships. It’s the ability to maintain valuable links and connections with people and to enjoy each other’s companionship along the way.

If your network has 1000’s of people but you don’t know them well, it will have a commercial value of close to zero.  If your network has just 20 people but they are motivated and have a real circle of influence within their connections, it will have a massive commercial value to you.

Thrive networkers in Norfolk and Suffolk have discovered that size doesn’t matter but the best way to network is to get connected is to the right people!

A connection that opens new doors can be priceless.

“I’m no good at networking or I don’t like going into a crowded room full of strangers” is something that we all often hear. If that’s how you feel, be encouraged – nobody was born with perfect networking skills. If others can learn, so can you!
