You don’t need to know the all the people, all the time.

What are your expectations when business networking?

It’s easy for most of us to be friendly and useful with people we know. However, because networking is a “business activity” it’s easy to think that we need to act in a different way which is so not true.

To some people, networking can all seem false and one-sided. This, of course, is the complete opposite of what networking should be about.  It is supposed to be – sociable, friendly, helpful, and genuine.

There is simply no need to hand out your business cards and flyers to everyone in the room or to pepper everyone with emails. Instead, focus on finding people that are appropriate and friendly to you. As time goes on, you can decide if the interests that you share with someone are worth taking further. It’s better to have 5 people willing to help you out than it is to have 500 that simply know you by name.

Networking works best when you build relationships, so our aim at Thrive networking is to meet and build rapport with each other. Networking is not just about getting a job, or selling a product or service, it’s about getting information.
